An interview with Lauren from Sahara Splash
It’s been a while since I did ‘An Interview with….‘ so who better to start it back up again than the lovely Lauren from Sahara Splash. I never thought I’d have the honour of an interview with a Spanish speaking Avenger superhero!
Lauren is a mum to Alice and is expecting a blue bundle in August 2020 – so it’s a very exciting year for their family!

Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Lauren, I am a Suffolk based blogger and freelance writer. I have a two year old girl named Alice and currently baking a boy due late August.
Why did you start blogging?
I actually started up a website when I moved to London. It was a way of documenting my creative adventures including modeling and attending events. I think I accidentally stumbled upon the blogging industry as it sort of transformed into one over time.
Were you inspired by anyone to start blogging – if so, who?
I was inspired by my passion for writing and creating over any one specific thing or person.
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since 2015
What frustrates you most about blogging/social media?
I don’t like it when I see copies of other bloggers’ work and duplicated messages. It’s lazy!
Have you ever taken time out from blogging/social media? Why?
I was actually still working on a blog project the day I went into labour with Alice! It’s very flexible which I love, but if there’s a job to do, I don’t take time off.
Best parenting advice you’ve ever received (is there such a thing?!)
Try nipple shields! They literally saved my breastfeeding journey which was about to end before it got started until someone recommended these beauties to me.
What are your parenting pet hates?
That’s a difficult one. I guess other parents trying to parent any children other than their own offspring, if that makes sense? It’s a unique experience.
What advice would you give to new parents?
Lean on anyone who offers you a shoulder, a cup of tea or food.
What would you say to anyone thinking of starting a blog?
Do it for the right reasons, not because everyone else is doing it. If you have a voice, a certain talent that you want to share then sure, go for it. Just do your research thoroughly beforehand.
What are your favourite blogs (parenting or otherwise…)
I’ll stick to Instagram handles so it’s easy to find them:

What are your top tips for a successful blog?
Please check, check and check before publishing! The worst thing is reading a blog post that is full of mistakes and errors.
