Books I’ve read this month | February 2019

So I started this month off with a book selected by a small group of bookworms in the ‘That Mama Book Club’ group (come over and join us!) – there were 3 or 4 to choose from in the monthly poll and this one was picked.

I’m really loving finding new genres and authors through the club and this month didn’t disappoint. I’m also finding my local library a really good place to get my books from; I was spending an absolute fortune on Amazon and whilst it is nice to keep the books after, to be able to loan them out for free has been really good. I was always put off by the library as I’m a bit of a germphobe, but all the books I have loaned so far have been in fantastic condition.

Close to Home – Cara Hunter
Someone took Daisy Mason…someone you know.
How can a child go missing without a trace?

Last night, eight-year-old Daisy Mason disappeared from a family party. No one in the quiet suburban street saw anything – or at least that’s what they’re saying.
DI Adam Fawley is trying to keep an open mind. But he knows the nine times out of ten, it’s someone the victim knew.
That means someone is lying…
And that Daisy’s time is running out.
Wow. I’ve really got into crime thrillers lately and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. I started reading it one evening knowing I only had a few days of February to get it complete and I genuinely couldn’t put it down. That first night I ended up staying up until way past my bedtime,  reading half of the book as I was immediately hooked on it… I did wake up with a headache the next day and I’m convinced it was because my head was trying to process all the characters and second guess whodunnit!
I kept changing my mind on who it could be, as each piece of the puzzle unravelled a bit more I was convinced I knew who it was – the actual guilty party was not even on my radar. Such a good twist!
Other book updates
I started ‘Why Mummy Drinks‘ by Gill Sims back in January and I am still to complete it, but I will make that my March mission. After I finished ‘Close to Home’ I started reading ‘Chasing the Rainbow‘ by Poorna Bell which I saw fellow Mummy Blogger Mummysetra raving about on Instagram and I’m now half way through that one…look forward to bringing you my review for that one next month.

Happy reading x
